The Story retells the events of the Battle of Thermopylae between the Persians and a mainly Spartan force. It includes extracts from Herodotus, the Greek historian who provided his own account of the Persian Wars.

The Explore is based on an interactive model of the battlefield at Plataia. It allows children to explore the forces that took part in the battle and find out about the weapons and armour used by soldiers on both sides.

The Challenge enables children to gain an understanding of Greek naval warfare. Children command their own trireme at the Battle of Salamis.
